Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
My brother found a posting on indeed.com advertising a weekly sum of money to just have a company brand wrapped on his car for a period of time. The correspondence went on for some time between my brother and the supposed company until finally he received a cheque in the mail for close to $3000. As soon as the cheque arrived he was to contact the company and let them know then they would advise him to wire a percentage of that cheque to a firm that would wrap the logo on his vehicle. After this was done he would receive payment each week for the advertising.
He received a legitimate looking letter and a very realistic looking cheque, both carrying the names of different companies on them, one is a real company in Ontario that probably has no idea their name is being used in this ordeal, and the other is a company with a name that keeps popping up all over the internet with "SCAM" attached to it: Eden (some form of beverage) company.
I had just heard about a similar scam on the news in Kelowna, BC. that had taken advantage of a college student who was just hoping to earn some extra cash through the school year. The details of that case sounded suspiciously like the supposed great deal that my brother was presented with so I immediately started researching everything. These people are disgusting and need to be brought to justice. The police are also going to receive the whole correspondence package that my brother was sent.
