Type of a scam Online Purchase
Someone with a foreign accent has been VERY persistant with phone calls trying to make me believe she/he is an employee of the BBB. She claims the BBB is trying to refund money to me, $299.00, because of some fraudulent company that has charged me and many others illegally. She directs me to my computer, gives me all kinds of instructions, emphasizing that I should never, ever divulge the ID# she has given me. (BTW, I do have it.) Evidently she tries to use "TEAM VIEWER" to take control of my computer. and get access to everything in it. I think Team Viewer is a legitimate business, but someone is using them to scam the gullible public. After refusing to obey the final instructions, dire warnings appear on the screen about shutting off the computer. I was afraid, but shut it down anyway. I can’t see that anything happened as a result. I just hope no damage was done.
