Type of a scam Employment

They emailed me saying they found my resume and wanted me to set up an interview by messaging their HR person on an app called Telegram. The HR person “Ian Howarth” told me he wanted to interview me over instant messaging on the app. They told me they are based in Milan, Italy, but are opening a branch in my area. They never told me specifically where the branch was being built. They offered me a job and said they would send me a check that I would use to buy a new laptop, printer, and other supplies I would need to work from home. They sent me an employment offer letter that did look legit. I contacted the Better Business Bureau to see if they had any information on the company and they told me this was a scam. I saw another person had also reported this as a scam and had the exact same thing happen to them except they signed the offer letter and lost over $4000.

I was contacted by Stefania Battaglino from Edison S.p.A. through a text, stating she found my resume on my WorkinTexas profile and that my qualifications fit the company. I had a texting “interview” through the Telegram app and was never required to speak to anyone on the phone. They asked for my address (which I stupidly provided) so they may send me a check for a printer and laptop. Monday rolls around and they send me the new hire information. The paperwork is outdated and they wouldn’t give me a number to speak to anyone in HR, so I contact the Better Business Bureau because the monthly salary and benefits sound too good to be true. They were–BBB confirmed they’re a scam and to report them to the Federal Trade Commission, which I will be doing. When I replied to “Stefania” letting her know that I was rescinding my employment, she asked why. I told her I knew it was a scam and she immediately deleted our texts and blocked me. Don’t fall for it!

SAME SITUATION AS COMPLIANT 07111– BUT THE DIFFERENCE IS THAT I BENEFITED FROM IT. I OPTED NOT RECEIVE FAKE CHECK FROM EDISON SPA ENERGY, A KNOWN “JOB BOARD SCAM” AND I DID NOT PROVIDE MY DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION, THANKS TO THIS WEBSITE AND COMPLAINT. JOB BOARD SCAMS ARE THE LEADING SCAMS IN THE U.S., SO EASY TO GET INFORMATION. *THEY ARE ON ALL MAJOR JOB BOARDS LIKE INDEED, GLASSDOOR, CAREERBUILDER, ZIPRECRUITER, WORKINTEXAS AND MORE.. I PARTICIPATED IN FAKE INTERVIEW VIA TELEGRAM INSTANT MESSAGING. THEY ARE SIMILAR SITUATIONS ON INSTANT MESSENGER BUT REGULAR EMAIL CAN BE USED FOR SUCH FOOLISHNESS, AS WELL. THIS IS JUST PLAN EVIL. I INFORMED THE SCAMMER THAT THEY DID NOT SEND ME A FAKE CHECK AND I AM NOT GIVING THEM MY DIRECT DEPOSIT INFORMATION — I AM FILLING COMPLAINTS WITH BBB /BCA AND CONTACTING ALL PARTICIPATING JOB BOARDS, AND THEY WILL INVESTIGATING AND MAY FILE A CLASS ACTION LAWSUITE AGAINST THEM AND OTHER POTENTIAL BUSINESSES NAMES THAT THEY UTILIZE OR MAY POTENTIALLY ATTEMPT TO UTILIZE IN THE FUTURE.

They said they saw my resume & they’re contacting me from Edison spa energy. I did an online interview & they told me I needed to buy a laptop & printer. They sent me a check to get the supplies I needed to start work. All happening within days. I had not clue about stuff like this, I thought it was legit. My bank later restricted my card after depositing my check ! I told the “employer” the check was fake & they blocked me. Yes my bank deposited the fake check & I told them I was scammed & they took my money still. Don’t get scammed cause if the bank takes the fake check they will blame you & not help you ! These people use telegram, never use telegram !!
