Type of a scam Debt Collections

We received a "Notice of unpaid tolls and penalties" from Linebarger Groggan Blair & Sampson, LLP stating that we owed $255.10 worth of unpaid charges that occurred April 2018. The date that it supposedly occurred, my husband was recovering from surgery in the hospital. Myself and all the other drivers in the household were at the hospital all day. Therefore we could not have committed this violation. Additionally, the license plate of the so called violation does not belong to us. When I called the 1-877 number given to me, I explained the situation. I was told "How do we know that your children did not drive and commit the violation? Kids are driving from state to state all the time." (I never said that I had children to this person). When I asked what type of vehicle did the plate belong to, I was told a Jeep. WE DO NOT OWN A JEEP. I was told that we must since the license plate came back registered to my husband. I was told to go to the DMV and get a print out that shows all of the vehicles registered to me to prove that I don’t own the Jeep. When I asked what exactly was this form called, the lady said she didn’t know. PLEASE BE AWARE OF THIS COMPANY. This is a SCAM. The paper work looks legitimate, but it is fake. DO NOT SEND these lowlifes any money. If you have unpaid toll road violations, the DMV will notify you when your car registration is due. You will not be able to register your car unless the fees are paid to the DMV. A collection agency will NOT notify you in regards to this.
