Caller, David said there were issues with my computer and that I needed to log in right away so it could be resolved. Advised I was not available right now and David started yelling and disconnected the call. I called back and advised him I needed additional information. I did not feel comfortable so I blocked the phone number.
My daughter just ended up on a tech support call with Edify Technologies. The Microsoft Office installation they had was not working and something popped up and told her to call their number for support. She did, and she allowed them to control her computer. They opened a few windows and told her that her drivers are not working and needed to be licensed. They then tried to HARD sell a $300+ 5-year license subscription to fix it, or some other amount for a lifetime subscription. When she declined, they explained that it needed to ixed now or it might not ever work (big red flag… a sense of “urgency”?) She did not take the bait because they cannot afford it, and her husband wasn’t home to discuss it. She called me and I told her she did the right thing, but I’m still worried about what may have been planted while they had control of her computer.
