Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted to do design work. They asked for my cell phone, which isn’t unusual in my line of business. They sent me an email with the details of the project and explained they could only pay with credit card. They needed a logo and marketing materials for a furniture company start-up. I set up a merchant account to accept payment. Once I notified them that I was ready to accept payment, they explained that I would need to pay a third party that had the files and they were unable to reach them themselves. They would pay me a little extra as a ‘thank-you’ and that they were unable to do this themselves because of health issues (lung cancer). I immediately recognized this as a common form of credit card fraud and immediately ended all communications.
