Type of a scam Employment
They reached out to me through messenger thru Linkedln saying I was a good candidate for a Virtual Assistant, would l be interested. Sent my resume and was accepted right away given information about the position etc. I started questioning them asking them about is this a W-4 or 1099 position, working hours, what computer system do you need to have for the software, etc. I looked up the company on the website and looked up the recruiter, I felt it was legit, so I thought what the heck, easy money so I accepted. I than receive and email stating they are sending me a check for $2950.00 for my first weeks pay check, money for a printer, papers and the software needed to do this. Well Red Flags went up!!! I emailed him back and stated this doesn’t seem right, what is all this extra money for. He responded that $2500 is for the supplies and the remainder was for my first weeks check. Now mind you they stated it was $400 a week and they would be responsible for taking out the taxes, well not sure on their math but, 2950 – 2500 = $450, so that is more than I was quote per week and there is no taxes taken out. So I emailed them back stating I was declining this offer because it just doesn’t seem legit and I will be reporting them to the BBB.
