Type of a scam Phishing
I placed my vehicle listing to sell on Craigslist. I was initially contacted by "Rebecca" via Craiglist email, saying that her husband was interested, but was working a lot and asked for an email he could contact me at. I have my own domain name, so I set up a temporary email address which I provided to her. I then had an email conversation start with Leonard, in which he asked a few questions about the car. Then I get this email
"Perfect. Before heading to you to inspect your vehicle and to make sure it’s exactly as you said I would like to take a look over a history report that can be found at https://www.AutoSmartFax.com . Don’t get me wrong but I heard a few horror stories about vehicle sales and most important , my lender requires it otherwise I can’t get the loan for your vehicle. Please let me know when you have it thanks."
I informed him that I already had a Carfax report and would happily send it to him. He replied again asking that I get the specific report he sent. I then replied and told him I suspected a scam, and to not bother replying …
