Type of a scam Tech Support
The company was able to get my computer to lock up with a pop up message that stated to contact Microsoft support with a phone number on the screen. I thought it was legitimate and called, allowed the "level 3 Microsoft support technician" to take control of my computer. Then showed me all these fancy graphs and graphics of what was wrong with my computer. He then wrote on my note pad explaining it would cost me $299 to repair or $399 to replace the corrupt drivers on my computer. When I refused to pay, stating my computer was not worth that much he said my network was also infected. I still told him no and that he needed to disconnect from computer. I believe he may have infected my computer, stole personal data and am fearful that he was able to extract enough to steal my, or my husband’s ID. I have not heard back yet about the fate of my computer:(
