Type of a scam Credit Cards
I misdialed while I was calling a number I have used for years, so I thought I connected to the trusted company. There was a telephone offer for a $100 gift card for $1.95 to Walmart, Target, etc. for trying a discount service. I gave him my credit card number and CVV. He said they would send me a welcome packet via email and mail, and I gave both addresses, and I could cancel any time. He said he needed my DOB to ensure I was over 22. I was given numbers to cancel, 1-888-808-6528 and 1-877-230-4476, which did not connect to this "company". When I asked to be reconnected to the company I thought I called they said I would have to call 1-800-555-1212, which I knew was not right. I immediately canceled my card.

Type of a scam Online Purchase
I placed an online order to PetSmart on my cellphone. Once it was placed I checked my email for the confirmation. I received an email that said it had my tracking information in it. When I clicked on the link for the tracking a blue box appeared with a phone number I was asked to call regarding my order. The phone number was an 800# but had the exact same last 7 digits as PetSmart which is a 888#. The business at the 800# said they were asking for quite a bit of my personal information offering me lots of discounts and savings, one of which being a $100 gift card to a various stores I could choose from. In order to get the card I had to provide them my credit card # and pay $1.99. I felt like this was a scam because the numbers were so similar and I only received the offer after pacing an order through the internet on my phone.
