Type of a scam Tech Support

Claimed to bean agent of Microsoft; sold me lifetime contract, but each additional call for service asked for more money to cover something new; paid out almost $1000.

Now they are calling to give me a refund and send me an e-check; but they keep hanging up when I say …just send it.

Subsequent inspection of network and computer by a NYC firm revealed that nothing had been done or installed or monitored.

January, 2017, i had a popup on my computer screen that I had to get in touch with technical support because of issues of possible virus with my Google account and email. I called and was provided a number to Digital Mechanics. they were very persuasive….and asked me to allow them to remotely check out my computer…of course they found several problems. I was talked into paying $299.99 for a Platinum Plan. They guaranteed to have stopped spyware from infecting my system, accessing my personal information, etc. This contract was for three years. In June, 2017, I receive another call convincing me that I still have serious problems….my computer, my husbands and my sons…now, for an additional $479.99 I received a "LIFETIME" plan for all of the computers in my house. Again, one more time, in January, 2018, another call insuring me that I needed more serious protection…the onetime platinum plan for $749.83. Fortunately, my bank stopped payment on this check for the reason of suspicious activity. OK, so I am a [censored]. Then, I received the phone calls insisting I make my payment. In the meantime, i took my computers to a local computer shop and had them checked out…WOW …no spyware…no viruses…then the calls became more threatening…..and even asked to make out another check to another company called TECH CURE LLC…..I had responded by email and asked that they no longer contact me and in all fairness that they also refund me the $479.99. Well, that never happened. Now, September, 2018, I began receiving calls again….stating that they have detected some very suspicious activity from other countries like Mexico and Germany on my accounts…..I would like them to stop contacting me……so let my story be a warning to everyone…..they are out to scam you…

Type of a scam Business Email Compromise

Received email from Digital Mechanics stating that my information has been hacked and they charged $250 to secure my cell phone, laptop and tablet. A month later I called complaining of no improvement so they offer 3 different prices to upgrade security, $499.00, $899.00 and I think $1499.00 oh and $1999.00 to upgrade my security. I told them I could buy 3 or 4 computers for that money with well known security for that amount of money!! Bottom line I think this company should be shut down as they are scamming people out of their money. I also would like my money returned to me!

This company and its affiliate Tech Cure claim to be a third party affiliate with Google and this is not entirely true. I am now being contacted again because they claim someone was attempting to hack into my email account. I paid them $699.99 for a platinum plan for their protection for 5 years.
