Type of a scam Online Purchase
I was searching for a Dyson Stick Vacuum cleaner on Best Buy’s website. Below the website came up other places to buy Dyson. I clicked on a Dyson logo and it took me to a website that looked just like a Dyson website. I placed my order for the stick vacuum listed for $129.99 and paid through PayPal (yes, PayPal ). I received a confirmation from PayPal and noticed much of the writing was in Chinese. I did not receive a confirmation from the merchant and I immediately knew something was not right. I went back to the website to get a phone number for this company. When I called the number which was in the USA, a recording of an American woman’s voice stated that this was not the number for Dyson and that it was a scam and do not order from them. Well, it was too late. I immediately sent a message to PayPal to explain what had happened and that I had not received even a tracking number. I also reported this incident to my credit card company. They contacted the merchant in which they have 45 days to respond. I finally got a tracking number from PayPal. On August 5th my package arrived from China.
It measured 6×4 inches. On the mailing label from China, the item was listed as ‘toy’. I’m too scared to open it. It is definitely not a Dyson Stick Vacuum cleaner.
