Type of a scam Online Purchase
Went to website after doing a google search for vintage style drinking glasses sold out elsewhere online. Site looked legit, had no tech issues or red flags. Odd thing is Paypal was the only purchase option. Didn’t seem overly suspicious given many smaller/indie businesses use more payment options.
Ordered glasses, received no confirmation of order, PayPal allowed payment to *** *** account. His last name is actually ***. Assumed he was the small business owner. Emailed again for order confirmation a couple of days later, got no reply.
Googled the shops website info for reviews etc, address was a Chicago lux apt building penthouse, called phone #, no message, was a dead end. Googled *** *** ***, basic bio came up, he uses aliases and lives far outside the city. Reported purchase as a fraud case to PayPal, went through the verification process, he never sent any correspondence, the Envino.com website was soon taken down, eventually he sent a refund. Paypal should have suspended his account for fraud, unsure if they did or how many people were scammed,
