Type of a scam Employment
I was contacted about an "at-home" virtual assistant job opportunity for a busy professional that traveled a lot. The job posting was found on Indeed.com. I was promised money every week to pay for supplies, bill pays, etc. The ‘company’ she claimed to be with linked back to an architecture firm in New York that had different contact information. The job also claimed it was a local firm, but a quick internet search showed that there was a similar job postings for other cities nearby. Some were claiming similar benefits, others claiming compensation of $29,000-49,000. The ‘professional’ only needed my home address to send the ‘cheque’ to (we’re in the United States, we spell it ‘check’) and a phone number for contact. When asked about the New York firm, she avoided the question and instead provided instructions for me to follow to deposit the check.
