Type of a scam Debt Collections
This person called me by using the local non emergency police line and said I am being processed for fraud, default on pay day loan. Will be arrested if I don’t pay. Said the loan was from Ace cash express in Feb. 2016. Had me call the 1-88-733-9460 number with reference number. I called it and they asked for reference number: then asked for last 4 of social security or birthday. I gave birthday and they tried to purge me for money to pay or I go to jail.
I called the non emergency police line to verify if they have processing officer and do they call people. She was surprised that a call came from non emergency line and said it has to be a scam. I called Ace cash express and they said, legally they can’t go after consumers in such a manner.
I called back with fake reference number and fake name. They couldn’t find me in the system. Go figure.
