Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order
I received a check USPS Priority Mail and a very detailed letter with Walmart letterhead. It says I am selected as secret shopper and I can keep $300, I should spend $90 on personal purchases and evaluate the cashier and process, then to buy $1200 worth of gift cards to evaluate the Money-Mart service. I am to scratch off the back of gift cards and send pictures to the number provided. The instructions are very detailed down to paying attention to whether I am welcomed and noting the greeter and cashier names. It also states that this must be done within 2 days and to fill out survey or I will be disqualified from future surveys, there is no survey link or information in letter. I am not to let anyone know that I am a secret shopper as it skews the research. I looked this up on the internet as it felt off and sure enough it is a scam. I am so very grateful I didn’t deposit the check. We are hurting financially and this really could have destroyed us. I am glad it felt off enough and I did not take any action.
