Type of a scam Debt Collections
Have received numerous phone calls claiming I have a warrant/old fine from Coles County, IL from June of 2005. I was no where near IL during this time and the address they claim was on my driver license is not an address I’ve ever had on my license. When asked to send documentation and ticket to see who wrote the ticket and review the information they claim that there was no officer name on the ticket and alls they sent was a print out stating my name, DOB, wrong address and alleged violation. They have even went far enough to use a phone number that resembles numbers in my area to "collect this debt." I just got off of the phone with Coles County, IL Courthouse and they cannot find my name anywhere in their system and say that if I did receive a ticket from them then this "arrest warrant" would still be active and there are none. Also, this seatbelt violation they claim I got would be on my MVR as I’m a truck driver and it’s nowhere to be found. They insist on collecting this $212.42 and urge me to give out my confidential information which I will not do.
