Type of a scam Advance Fee Loan
I’ve had a brain aneurysm and I am forgetful. I’d been looking for a loan online. I got a message saying I’d been approved for a loan to call them back. I called back. I spoke to Frank, he had a foreign accent. He said I was approved for a loan of $15,000. He asked what I would do with the loan. He asked if I worked, and what I did for a living. I told him I was self-employed and on benefits. He asked for my bank account number and routing number. He said said he would talk to his store manager (other people were on phones in the background). he said in order to get the loan, I would have to go to Walmart, Krogers or someplace that has a Western Union to buy a card to activate. I asked why I had to purchase a card. He said that’s the way it works. I said it’s a scam. He said "Well, we’ll just cancel the loan", and hung up.
