Type of a scam Online Purchase
I was selling a vehicle on KSL classifieds and was contacted by someone wanting to buy my truck. After a few messages back and forth he asked me to get a report from loanandtitlereports.com. I looked at the site but thought it odd. The potential purchaser has continued to ask me to do it even though I told him I wasn’t going to sell to him.

Type of a scam Phishing
A man named Calvin contacted me via text message indicating his interest in a vehicle I had posted for sale on the KSL cars classified site. He asked me to provide him with what he called an “LT” report. I told him I wasn’t planning on purchasing any vehicle reports but mentioned the vehicle had no outstanding loan and I had the title in my possession. He then responded that when he sells vehicles online he always purchased a vehicle history report. I then decided to check out the website he directed me to www.loanandtitlereport.com and it seemed legitimate and used PayPal for processing the payment ($24.95). So, I decided to purchase the report and I did receive what appeared to be a legitimate vehicle history report including service, title and accident information which was correct for my vehicle. I then didn’t hear from him for quite a while so I started investigating his phone number (801-821-2397) and found several reports of a scam tied to his number and even mentioning his name “Calvin”. The website this information on was millionphone.net. Oddly enough he did text me back asking “Any update?”. At this point I’m sure it was a scam although I did receive a legitimate vehicle history report.
