Adult male with foreign accent called my land line and stated that Jackson Cooper from Rhode Island charged $399 on my Visa card. Asked me to call back him back at 1-909–308-2204. They asked for my email address so they could reverse the charge. I hung up.

I checked with my credit card company and there were no charges or pending charges from Amazon in that amount.

I have been receiving robocalls from Amazon on my cell phone. The message stated we will be charging your account $200 for Amazon monthly membership. It said press one to speak with an operator. I pressed one. I asked the person that answered what the membership fee was for. She said it was for various discounts. I did not allow them to ask for money. I told them not to bother me. Take me off your calling list. The number in my caller ID was 209-667-2660. I do have Amazon Prime so I questioned this. They called again about billing my account $549. I pressed number one again to speak with a representative. He said it was for an Amazon i phone two. I called Amazon. They did not make the call. I did not pay any money or give any personal information.

So again I tired to call Amazon with phone number 1-888280-4331 due to the wanted me to tell them the id information that shows they took the money from my account in error due to I do not have a membership with them what so ever. The guy told me I have to give them my e-mail address and account information and I explain nope not going to happen since they already have the information on file he then was telling me again that I must have given my account information out and I explained again how can I give out my account information when I do not have a account with you in the first time. He then laughed at me and transfer me to his supervisor and she did the same thing all over to me again but this time she just laughed at me and hung up. I have been dealing with this for that last three day started on 9/8/20 until today I am so sick of the way Amazon practice their business. I also was trying to tell them to stop sending me e-mail telling me they have a package waiting for me to pick up and I just delete them right away since I know I do know have an account with them and I did not order nothing from them, Only to be told them have the right to send and do what ever they want.

Got an email that was for an order that was purchased to my amazon account.

I called the number on the email.

Talked to someone that said they cancelled the order but found a bunch of hackers to this account . . . some from US and some from overseas (China and Russia)

I believed them because my daughter is on tick tock and buys a lot of stuff from websites all over.

They said I needed to purchase an Amazon purple gift cards from a list of stores so they can use it to track the hackers.

I went to Rite aid first which didn’t have any of the "Purple" Amazon gift cards. They said I could get a google play one but it needed to be for at least $200 which they would automatically refund and it would show in my account with 24 to 48 hours.

I did that, and had to give them the trans action number of the receipt along with the card info.

They did that then said they closed out all of the hackers but the ones from overseas. Can’t believe I didn’t catch on from there.

Then I proceeded to purchase two more cards . . . one from Best buy and one from Walgreens . . . both for $500 each.

After the 2nd one, I started questioning the guy who said his name was Alan. I told him to hold on the line so I can call Amazon and confirm . . . he said OK . .. gave me his extension and name and he would hold while I called them. Stupid me believed him figuring if he was giving me his name and extension along with holding that he must be legit.

Then I got home and he said they still couldn’t find the last hacking from China and wanted me to go out and buy $400 worth of Ebay cards. Then I knew it was all a scam. I freaked out on him and he got mad telling me I was insulting him. I can’t believe I didn’t figure it out after the first one.

Now I am out $1200. We work so hard for our money . . . and there’s people like this out there that have no problems stealing from others. Now I don’t have enough to pay my mortgage and/or my daughters tuition for this month. I have reported this to the FTC, my bank, the stores that I purchased the cards from. If there is anyway anyone can compensate me it would be greatly appreciated . . . and if not, at least CATCH THESE [censored]TY PEOPLE . . . it’s just so upsetting . . . and worse on how stupid I feel for falling for it 3 times.

There has been fraudulent activity regarding the $200 gift card you recently purchased." [I had not purchased an Amazon gift card – so I ignored it]. I was contacted again on the same day at 3:46PM by the same number and receievd the same automated message. I called back and spoke to a lady who did not give her name. She told me my Amazon account has been compromised and they will reverse the charge to my credit card. She told me the purchase was made in Houston, I live in California. I asked to send me an email recounting the report before we continue with anything. Again I asked for her name and she did not provide it and hung up. I called back repeatedly until someone answered also saying this was Amazon. I asked for his name and employee number and he hung up. I call back again several times and while I was doing so I received a call from another number, +1(202) 9324699. I continued to call both numbers until someone answered, who turned out to be the same man who I had spoken to before he then said this was "Domino’s Pizza would I like to place an order?" I have received one a month for the last 3 months. In each of them, I am thanked for shopping with them and that Amazon will send me a confirmation when my order ships. The estimated shipping date given in the email is only several days from when you receive the email. Each time it was for a computer and each was to be shipped to different addresses in other states. The amount ranged between $1,000 – $2,500. First time I panicked and called the number given. I was told I had to go to Walgreens at this time and call the guy back. He gave me his first name – I think it was Josh. He said that he would tell me then what card I had to get and then they could take the charge off of my account. When I got off the phone, I thought about it and then checked my Amazon account. There was no charge for a computer. I did not go to Walgreens and about an hour later I saw on caller ID it was him again. I did not answer. However, every month I am getting the same email but a different computer at a different price being sent to an address but no name on the address given.

I have received 2 emails indicating my amazon prime membership is going to expire and will be permanently locked unless I change the card on file. Immediate action is required in all caps. Now I know this is fake for 2 reasons. One I do not have amazon prime. And secondly when we order through amazon we do so under my husband’s account. Therefore there should be no reason for amazon to have my email. I did contact amazon via their online chat help to inform them when this happened the first time. I wanted to take further action as I have received the second email today. I know many people do have amazon prime especially during this pandemic and do want innocent people to be taken advantage of.

I received an email from what looked like a legitimate purchase from Amazon saying my purchase would be shipped. The ship to address was to Austin, Texas and the purchase was for a TV in the amount of $3998.00. I knew I had not made that purchase so I called the phone number stated on email. (855-965-4096). I was told that my Amazon account had been hacked and I needed to purchase an Amazon security card at nearest store. The amount of the card purchase would automatically be returned to the credit card after purchase. He said he would stay on the line while I went to store to be sure I purchased the correct card. I then looked up (through Google) the actual Amazon phone number, and was told it was a scam and that purchase had not been made on my Amazon account. The number the scammer was calling from was 855-948-3525.

The scammer called my husbands father 3 different times. They claimed they were calling on behalf of Amazon about an iphone that was charged onto my Amazon account. The scammer said it was charged by my husband. They gave his name and the charge was for $700 and something dollars. My husband passed away recently and our account has a 0 balance. They told my father in-law if the charge is false she can connect him with her manager and he can handle stopping the charge. My father in-law said they had an Asian accent. Call stating "This Amazon calling about your order for the new Apple I-Phone 11 – press 1 if you wish to cancel." I can just imagine how many people would press 1 without thinking about it. I do not know what the result of pressing 1 would be but it must do something that people do not want on their phones or charges what ever the program is designed to do. I thought that it would be good to put out a warning or if someone in the know could investigate. I can not state if it is ID theft, money grab attempt or what the result will be, but with a rapid disconnect after the request must be assuming that someone would press 1. I received an EMail on 9/8/2019 with an Amazon logo informing me that I had purchased a laptop computer for approximately $1700. The message included a phone number and a statement that if I did not purchase the item I could call this number. I did call and the person answering stated that an Amazon credit card had been opened in my name and that I had purchased approximately $4700 in merchandise including the laptop. I informed him that we had not opened an Amazon credit card account nor purchased the items. He then attempted to sell protection for $470, which we declined. At this point we became suspicious and so informed him. Unfortunately, he did gain access to our computer and was able to erase the original EMail sent. We’ve contacted Amazon and their representative stated no items were ordered and that we would have to contact Chase to get information about a credit card. Chase wanted Social Security numbers which we declined to provide. Amazon seems unconcerned about damage to their reputation or the use of their logo. We will not order from them again.

169 CARPENTER AVE

BUFFALO, NY 14223-1726

I did not place this order and Amazon said the email was not from them and their security people are looking into this.

I applied for an Amazon job on Indeed. I checked my email a few days later and notice an email from Amazon Inc. The position is for the Virtual Customer Service at Amazon. I’m given a selection of dates to conduct an interview through email. Never heard of this method before but thought nothing of it. The emailed interview arrived the next day, Memorial Day, and had two sections to complete, Section A and Section B. The questions did not ask for any personal information. I was only asked about different job situations relating to customer service questions. On the third day, I received another email explaining I was selected for the next round and to complete an assessment. The assessment would determine any value I would bring and also enlighten me about job duties. The third email also explained the requirements for webinar training. The requirements for the training included front and back copy of driver’s license, how do you intend to receive pay, Postpaid carrier account information with cellphone companies (Verizon, AT&T, Sprint), and your physical address (No Physical Address). After receiving the third email, I thought nothing of it responded by email with a copy of driver’s license, direct deposit information, and my address. I received a forth email on the same day. The forth email was strange and was requesting the name of my bank, the type of credit card I was using, and if I was able to go to the store at any moment in time to purchase anything with it. It was then, I finally realized this was a scam. I quickly contacted my bank and the placed an alert with all the credit agencies. Due to interacting with the scammed email, I will also conduct malware/virus scans on my personal computer. There were no links or attachments to click on within any of the sent emails.

Because I use gmail, all I notice was Amazon Inc. I reopened the email and took a detailed look at the email address and discovered it to be [email protected] I also took a closer look at the proposed web address, https:/_/www.amazon.com. The Underscore used between the two forward slashes is not a proper web address. I failed to examine the entire email properly. Was only thinking about supporting my family and getting a job offer. I sadly let my guard down. Had I took a closer look at those two things after receiving the first email. I would have had known it to be a scam. After applying for over 20 jobs in the Greater New Orleans area and getting turned down for almost all of them, I was in need of anything decent I could get my hands on quickly.

Wow. They are getting good. I had an email in my spam filter "from Amazon" confirming an order for $266.88 and it looks incredibly legit (screen shot attached). I knew I didn’t purchase anything but the wife and I share an account and instantly thought "oh boy what did she buy now?" (tisk tisk wifey), I dang near clicked the "order confirmation number" until it dawned on me; this was my work email address which is not associated with our account. I was called and was told that I could make lots of money through creating a website for Amazon.com. They said there was three levels, starter for $500, gold for $750 and executive for $100. Each level would give you more products. I took the lowest one as he said I could upgrade later. I was scammed the $500. I had my granddaughter order through my site to see if I got a commission, which I didn’t. Two months have gone by and I was supposed to get checks on the 15th of each month. At first I was excited because I have been applying for jobs online via sites like Indeed and remember applying for a position at Amazon but it just doesn’t seem right. why would a legitimate company like Amazon need me to use my bank account to process their business? They wouldn’t! beware of this scam

I noticed a new voicemail on my phone this morning (September 19, 2018) from an unknown number. I never answer if someone calls me from an unknown number. The voicemail starts with a lady introducing herself as Sarah with AmazonCash.co a nonprofit recruitment firm (which I wasn’t able to find on Charity Navigator). Sarah says she saw my resume online (I don’t have an online resume) and she is calling about an online opportunity working with Amazon. Sarah explains that I will be listing products and posting reviews online in my spare time. Hourly pay ranges from $17 to $32 an hour. Sarah says they are currently hiring 23 people this month and to please register and AmazonCash.co (which she repeats). It doesn’t sound like a robocall or someone from a foreign country. It sounds like someone from Minnesota or Chicago based on Sarah’s accent. It did not visit the website, and tried to find out information about AmazonCash.co. There were a few articles that talked about a scam with Amazon Cash, but I’m not sure if they were referencing the same thing. The articles referenced a news article on what appears to be a legit site, but it’s not.

If we had not made the purchase that we needed to call them at 888-419-9111. We immediately called our credit card company and a male answered the phone. He asked me my name. I had a feeling that it was not the credit card company and asked who he was. He again asked for my name and I hung up on him. I checked the phone number for my credit card company and the number was correct. I redialed it and this time reached the company. I explained to them what had transpired and they assured me that there were no charges to Amazon on our account. On Saturday, September 22 at 3:35 p.m. we received another call from a female saying basically the same thing as the day before re: a $77 purchase with our VISA card with Amazon. The number that left the message was (617) 396 3631. Another caller’s ID was (410)989-4470. None of these numbers are useful.

The website InternetProfit.org is asking for $47 to sign up and promises large income by working form home.

THIS IS A SCAM!!

do not pay a penny!

This number is used as a customer service number for Amazon. Then they ask for all sorts of account information, saying that someone else is trying to use your account. (Which is what they are trying to do.) It is listed on the front cover of a book that they are supposedly selling for 0-$1 on Amazon. When I was in the top search line of Amazon, I requested a customer service number, and this book came up. They then tried to get a $489 gift card charged to my account. I am assuming that they thought anything under $500 was not checked.

Amazon work from home. Consultation free but must pay 200$ for the seminar. All in phone. They call you once a week for 1 hour changing to once a month for 1 hour. Didn’t make any sense. Said it was a partnership not job. You would get your own website.

Amazon 2017

1 thought on “Amazon Imposter”

  1. Today, 8-22-2022, I received a phone call from 862-946-4356 saying there were charges on my Amazon account for a iMac computer and an iPhone, somewhere around $3,000. I was then transferred to the fraud department and told that I had 3 Amazon accounts all under my name. I told them that I only had one account and they questioned me about the other two accounts. He then said that he was going to transfer me to an officer from the treasury department who will handle my case. Gave me the name and number with a confirmation number. Long story short, I was supposed to take $20,000 from my checking accounts in cash and open a IPD account that he would help me set up. I was told not to mention any of this to family and keep quiet. Needless to say I’m not going to do this. I was told that the government will block my social security and drain my accounts until they found the fraudulent criminals. I looked up the number 888-556-9756 and found it to be a scam on Amazon.
