We were in the market for a Prevost bus conversion. Mid June, 2019, we located a Craigslist ad selling a bus of interest.
We did our due diligence and it seemed legitimate. We asked the Craigslist seller a number of questions that only an old bus owner would know (sellers do their own advertising, but use the service for the transaction…supposedly). We looked her up and she seems/ed like a real person. Then, we looked on a bus and rv forum we joined to ask if anyone had used it in the past. There were several cases of people purchasing rvs with great success. We then did a broader search for reviews and there were also several people who went to their various locations in person to purchase vehicles, etc. There were even a couple of reviews of people having trouble with a sale, but even they received the item…those were cases where they were just not super pleased with the overall customer service. We looked for any "scam" alerts through a broad google search. There were none. We did online chat with the company on their website. They too answered the questions thoroughly. So, we proceeded. We registered on the redcargaragedepot.com website, as they instructed and they sent the wire. Every step shows the "progress" of our transaction and updated accordingly. At day 4 after payment, we asked about the status of our delivery. They said we should receive notification within a couple hours. We checked two hours later and it showed a message that the item was dispatched on July 16th and we’d receive it on July 19th. The 19th came and went (and we continued to try to call Redcar Garage and emailed them numerous times). Their live chat option disappeared and their phone puts you on hold and claims "high volume of calls." It never connects and eventually asks you to leave a message.
We are a week past payment, the Craigslist seller will not respond. We can’t reach Redcar Garage through any of the contact info. We’ve tried internet searches for their leadership (the names they claim on the website) and can find no one. The money was wired to

They claimed to be selling me a boat. I checked their references as well as a few forums.
Things seemed to check out however after providing me with an Invoice and a Bill of sale I wired them the money for the boat and seemed to have one issue after another with the shipping. They claimed it would arrive a certain day and would reschedule untill they claimed it was in a car accident during transport and never got the boat into my custodey.
They then claimed they would be refunding me the money and never did

I tried buying a boat…..orginally off craiglist. When I contacted the person they said the boat is at redcar garage depot and I would have to go through them. Redcar depot has a great website and everything…..but in order to talk to them or get the item you must pay first. Then they deliver right to your house. It is a scam and I almost paid them…..it looks very legit. But it is not.
