When I turned on my computer, the log in screen froze and a message, supposedly from Microsoft, appeared. The message reported that software had been compromised and a phone number was given. When I called, the person answered "Microsoft." I was told that it would cost me $350 to receive "lifetime" protection. Two months later, another call came that said I needed additional coverage at $350. A month later a call came and reported that I needed a "private network." At that point I called Microsoft and this time it was the real Microsoft company that told me that Microsoft does not employ third-party contractors. I recently received a threatening phone call that stated there are four pending cases against me.
