The text was a group text to 20 people. The text reads: "WALMART STORES ® is starting an exceptionally huge research project in your general vicinity. This project happens each week, so we need to choose Shoppers to work as a store evaluator. You will get $450 on each endeavor. Every task requires 20-30 minutes of time at the store in addition to time to…"

I would have had to select VIEW ALL on my phone to see the rest of the text. I decided not to do that.

Oh, after I typed that in I saw I could attach the screen shot I did. Attaching that too.

Here is the text message I received – clearly a scam.

Plus the phone number looks very close to my son’s- “Awesome it’s Xmas offer !!! Wal-Mart store ® is beginning an exceptionally huge research project in your area. This project happens each week, so we have to select Shoppers to function as a store evaluator. You will get $400 on every task. Every task requires 20-30 minutes of time at the store in addition to time to review your post-visit reports. CLICK THE LINK BELOW TO PROCESS YOUR APPLICATION:

I do not have caller ID on my landline phone so I did not get the caller’s phone number. This afternoon (7/24/19) I received a call from a friendly English speaking young women telling me she is calling on behalf of our local Caldwell Walmart in regards to their online pick-up service. She asked if I had ever used it before and I told her I had and that I liked it. She then told me that for only about an hour of my time Walmart would pay me $100 to review this service they provide. All I would need to do is schedule a time when a representative would come to my house and assist me in making an online order and then I would pick it up at the store. After that, I would just need to evaluate the service I received to get the $100.

There were so many red flags in this call. First, I told her I had already used the service and liked it, why would I need assistance in making another order? Second, who would pay for the order they coached me through? Third, they would be sitting right there when I placed the order and would then have access to my payment information, either in person or in a fake online document.

I told the caller no thanks and hung up.

I called the ScamPulse.com which confirmed that it had all the markings of a scam and they urged me to make this report and to call my Caldwell Walmart to ask them if this is part of their business.

I called Caldwell Walmart and spoke to 3 different department managers and all told me that this is not a part of their business. They assured me if Walmart was conducting a survey in this nature it would be strictly online, no purchase necessary and no home visit.

I’ve received two texts over a two day period claiming to be Wal-Mart Loyalty Program gifting me with something and I just needed to click the link sent via text by the scammer to collect. Wal-Mart does not contact anyone via text their scam site says so..

Received a phone call on my cell phone at 12 pm yesterday. 3/28/2019.

It was from a restricted phone number. I normally do not answer calls from a restricted number but I have a close friend who has a restricted number and I had seen him the day before.

When I answered the phone I thought it was a joke my friend was playing on me.

The call: The man said his name was David W*** and he was with Walmart and I had won 2.35 million dollars from a contest or online survey I had entered. David W*** had a Jamaican accent. He gave me his ID number as 112233 and asked me to write down some information. Tracking number 843518596437325, Bank number DD104702.

He wanted to know which bank they could sent the messenger too. He gave me two choices, one of them was my bank.

Then he wanted to know if I wanted to meet at the bank or at my house. I said, the bank.

He then told me, I had won a bonus. Which Mercedes color would I like. Then, which insurance company I would like the paid insurance from. My choice were Geico or Allstate. I went with Allstate. He then gave me the phone number of the Insurance agency. 2085841122.

He went on to ask me how soon I could make it to Boise to receive my prize. I told him I was at work and could not leave. He said, "Tell your boss you have a family emergency and need to leave work".

He was very adamant about me needing to leave and go meet them.

They need to know how far I was from Burley, Twin Falls and Idaho Falls. Something about needing to meet them by 2 o’clock. When, I told him, that i could not leave he became more forceful with me. I hung up on him. He called me back 7 times.

To sum it up he gave me 2 choices for banks, 2 choices for insurance and how long I had been working for my current job.

Hopefully, this will help others

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I was sent a Priority Mail packet containing a letter and a check for $1975.22, the letter stated I had been chosen for a Walmart Secret Shopping Market Research program.

The letter stated I needed to do the following within the next 3 days (arrived on Saturday)

Buy an item (under $50 at my local Walmart) and report on cleanliness, professionalism, and speed of transaction. Noting name of cashier and if they welcomed me.

Then I was to send to Walmart2Walmart money grams one for $850 and the other for $750 to the following people:

(1) KOLA COAL FATE, TX 75132

(2) SOGO KADO RICE, TX 75155

I was to take note of the customer service in that transaction as well, and once complete I was to email to the email provided.

The letter also noted I was not to make anyone aware of what I was doing, I was to execute the entire assignment within 3 days of receiving the letter and check.

Someone called and said that because I have paid my bills on time and purchased items at Walmart, I won a Mercedez Bens and 1.5 million dollars. The line cut and he said "Can you hear me?" And I said yes. He then said he was going to transfer me to his manager and put me on hold. His manager picked up and said that I have won a BMW and 2.5 million dollars. He eventually asked me what bank I use at which point I hung up. The same number called again numerous times, which I did not answer.
