Received a call saying that my Visa card had been used for suspected unauthorized purchases at The Bay for $312.29 If I had not made that purchase (which I did not) they asked to press 1. I was suspecting that this was a scam, but was curious how they would go about it. They sounded very professional and legitimate, no foreign accent in the voice of the male scammer. Again, he asked if I had made that purchase and I said no. He then asked me for the first 4 digits of my credit card. I gave it to him and he then asked me if I had any debit card with RBC. (Note: The first 4 digits of a credit card are the identifiers for the banking institution. In my case, *** points to RBC. This is why after that, he was asking about my debit card in RBC. I told him that I did not have a debit card. He then said: "What about your card starting with ***? The 9 after the first 4 digits is the identifier for a debit card. Again I told him that I did not have any debit card with RBC. He very politely asked me not to do any online banking for the next 72 hours and ended the call. I immediately called RBC Visa to confirm that this was a scam call.

8:30 am phone call. ‘Kristina’ asked for me by name. Said she was with VISA and that a charge of $600 was put on my credit card and to please confirm. I asked to which company the charge was for. She said Western Union and based on my history, she wanted to confirm it. I said that I’ve never paid to Western Union and that today’s charge (August 14, 2018) was something I did not do. She wanted to confirm that I had the VISA card used in my possession. I asked which VISA card. She repeated her request and I asked again, which VISA card. She said TD Bank. I said that I don’t deal with TD Bank; the phone line went dead. The caller ID said the call was from Pennsylvania, with the phone number being 412-408-3728.

Phone call 5:45 April 20, 2017 Identified self as representative from VISA security. Asked question something along the lines of "you’re the type who always pays your account on time right?" as soon as I answered "yes" they hung up. Unknown at this time is there is any loss of money.
