Type of a scam Sweepstakes/Lottery/Prizes

Customer received a letter saying she won 2nd place in a sweepstakes. The sweepstakes told her that she had to contact Walter Oni to claim the prize money. When she call the number it advises that account has been closed. The letter states she won $250,000 and that is 2nd place prize money. The letter was mailed from South Africa with South African postage.

Name of the Sweepstakes: European African and US Consumer sweepstakes in conjunction with USA Departmental Stores.

Letter came from Vayo Financial Inc.

They say there is a processing fee of $1,750. They sent a cashiers check from $1,870.00 that should be withdrawn from Bank of America.

On 8/17/2018 I received a letter and a check in the mail saying that I had won *** dollars in the European, African and USA Consumer sweepstakes. The check was for *** dollars to help with the processing fee to obtain the money. I was to contact Walter Oni at 1-877-533-8983 to start the claim processing. I had not entered a sweepstakes and knew that this had to be a scam.

Sent me a check for $*** processing fee said to be $***. Said I won a lottery held on July 30, 20*8 in the amount of $***. "Vayon Financial Incorporated (An Independent Body) has been assigned by the sweepstakes organization, to inform & direct all the winners & to assist them in receiving their winnings.

Victim received Vayo Financial Incorporated Letter (dated 8/1/2018) & Check (dated 7/30/2018) offering Sweepstakes Lottery held July 30th, 2018 winnings of $*** with Counterfeit Check received of $***. Victim was to forward $*** US Dollars after contacting "claims agent", Mr. Walter Oni @ 1-877-533-8983. Letter has addresses in Los Angeles, CA, London, England, & Cape-Town, South Africa.

Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I received a letter in the mail along with a check for $***. The paper stating I was the second winner is from Vayo Finanical, while the check is from Voya Insurance and Annuity Company. I have not entered any lotteries.
