Type of a scam Government Grant
The calls started the Monday after Easter and continue up until today 5/7/2018 from different numbers from a New York area code. (585)650-4949, (585)685-0882, (585)680-2997, (646)774-4057, (646)893-9140, and (347)394-2384. They would call and say that they are from the Federal government office and you have been selected to receive $9,000 in Grant money that you do not have yo pay back. They then give you a number to call once you accept the Grant by just conforming your name and address. Once you conform this you call the number and they give a tracking number that isn’t activated until you pay $300.00 dollars. They then give you instruction to go to your nearest Wal-Mart, Walgreen, or CVS store to the service desk and pay a fee of $300.00 to receive the $9,000 in federal Grant money. They continue to call me once I didn’t call them after 15 minutes trying to get me to send the money telling me that this was the only way I could get the money. She then asked me if I could hurry to the store to pick up the money because there was so many people calling and the phone maybe tired up with calls and I may not get through to receive my money. I then looked up the number on Facebook to see if the number had been used on Facebook through the Federal government office. When it came up this guy had recorded a conversation with a guy saying that he was going to call somebody else scam them into getting them to send them their money too.
