Type of a scam Government Grant
I got a phone call on my cell phone and they said I was one of several people to be selected for a government grant and that my bank that I use to bank with entered my name. They knew the bank name and all my information address and every thing. What they didn’t know I supplied for them. They said they needed 250.00 to register my name for the grant of 9000.00 and I would get that back when I received the grant. So I did a money gram. It was late and I wouldn’t get the money until the next day when the bank was open and I was to call at 11am. I did and there wasn’t an answer at first so I waited about 15 minutes and called back. The guy I called said he had some bad news and that it could be corrected fairly easy by sending another 675.00 for the taxes because state I’m in won’t release the money until I pay it. I said forget it I want my money back and he said it was in the and I couldn’t get with out paying the other. My state had put a hold on it. That’s when I realized I’d been scammed.I have names they gave me and phone numbers. The man said to call back when I get the other money. Couldn’t someone pose as me and bust these people? They said they were out of Atlanta, Georgia. Please help if someone can to stop these crooks. Thank you for your time.
