I just received a phone call to my home number which is on the do not call list at 609-695-3433. The caller id said Dulles Metro VA and the phone was 703-972-2447. I now live in Trenton, NJ, but grew up in the Dulles Metro area and recognized the 703 area code. I assumed it was an old family friend.
The caller asked, "Is *** there?". I answered no, but assumed he had my name misspelled as it is ***. However, I realized it was not likely a friend. He then proceeded to say, "I’m with Trenton Solar, can you tell me the name of who lives at ** *** *** and the names and addresses and phone numbers of your neighbors"?
I live at ** *** ***, so I quickly told him no and he was rude for asking and hung up.
Clearly he wasn’t "from Trenton Solar" as he was calling from Virginia, and if he is calling on their behalf (if they even exist) this is not the way to do business. I called the Trenton West Ward Police Department to report the scam. Sgt *** said they don’t have a way to log scam attempts and to contact the BBB.
While I may not have fallen for this, someone else on my street could. Please shut this operation down.
