Florina claims her husband is interested in purchasing my car that I have for sale, but needs to get some details. Waren emails me and asks if it has oil leaking or bad suspension. Then Waren said his loan officer is requesting a title report.

Says he would feel more comfortable with a title report and included a link to a website. I didn’t click on the website.

Someone using the name Robert Corbeil at [email protected] posed as a potential buyer for a vehicle I had for sale on Craigslist and claimed his loan officer had to have a vehicle report from athreport.com before he could get a loan to buy the vehicle.

I am selling my car and have it posted on craigslist.com.

I was contacted by a woman named Sophia with the email address [email protected] She said she was interested in the car, but that her loan officer needed an official title report specifically from https://www.vthreport.com.

I checked the website out, and saw that it had several flaws indicating it was a fake website. Its copyright was from 2016 and was registered to vincheck.com, a website that automatically redirects to carfax.com.

I replied to Sophia and informed her I didn’t purchase a title report through her recommended website, but included a report for her that I personally purchased from *** She said that was not acceptable and again asked me to purchase one through vthreport.com.

I suspect this is all part of a methodical scam preying on private car sellers. Please look into vthreport.com. Thank you!

Got an email about my car posted on Craigslist, a girl getting in contact for her uncle and asked for my email address. I gave it to her and then got an email asking if there were any issues with the car. Then they said in order to make a deal I needed to get them a report from threport.com I offered to give them the VIN number and have them get the report themselves but they argued about being out money for having to run 5 reports. (Which makes no sense) they offered to add the $24 I’d have to pay to the final price. I told them to get lost, this isn’t the first time I’ve been asked to get a vehicle/title report from a bogus site. I refuse to pay for them and always offer to give them the VIN. They never take the chance and that’s how I knew it was a scam.

I had a car for sale on craigslist. A potential buyer named Sophia responded and said, "I’m reaching you on behalf of my uncle. really interested , please give me your email address so he can get back to you later today ."

I gave her my email address and received this message, "I’d like to come look at it. Is there any bad things on it , like bad suspension, oil leaking etc? I would like to arrange meeting in few days. Hope everything will be great and we will make a deal."

I responded there were no problems with the vehicle. He responded, "I’m ready to come and talk over the details.

I also need to make sure everything is legit on the vehicle. Can you provide a current Title Report?

My loan officer has requested a report from www.threport.com .

I would really feel more comfortable buying a vehicle with an official Title report."

I gave him the VIN number, but responded with this:

"To be able to come , see , test and make a deal for it face to face , i need the report so i can pass it to my loan officer and make sure he will allow me to buy it .

I need the report because the loan company ask for it .please go to www.threport.com and get one . will not make sense for me to get one because i can`t re use it like you can , you will be able to give it to all you potential buyers , me on the other hand if will not be ok i will gave to look for a new vehicle and get a new report .

I know is only $24 but if i have to run 5 reports until i find an ok report where will i be ?

If the report will be ok you can consider it sold.

regards

P.S if is about the money i will add the $24 to the final price "

I then foolishly paid for the report with a credit card, received a report, but the buyer was a fraud.
