Fixing a computer for an older lady, they connected to while claiming to be microsoft and tried to charge her almost 400 dollars to "fix" it, after they clearly started to lock out files. Do not give this company any information nor let them connect to your computer.

I was on the computer. A box popped up saying there was a problem. Would not let me do anything on the computer. Gave a phone number to call. They said there were a list of problems with my computer. Mentioned "trojan". Said they could fix the problem by installing a firewall. Cost $249. When my daughter told me after that it was probably a scam. I took my laptop to *** *** at *** ***. They said Techsvite had removed my antivirus and installed something so they could see everything I was doing on my computer and all my history. *** ***had to clean my computer and reinstall my antivirus. I had to contact my credit card company and bank and have account numbers changed and get new cards and change a lot of passwords. Waiting for dispute form from credit card company. Not sure if I will lose the $249 as I "signed" something during the process this company had me go through.

Computer screen went to blue screen, instructed that a fatal error has occurred and that consumer needed to call Microsoft Certified Tech Support at an 877 number. Called the number and the tech took control of the computer to clean off the supposed "spyware, malware, etc." and then pushed a "firewall" for just $250.00 that will protect all the devices on the home network. Consumer bought "Lifetime Firewall" for $298.00 that supposedly was loaded on the laptop. Consumer has been informed since by Geek Squad (his regular tech support) that this is a scam and that there is no such thing as a firewall that is software driven off of a single computer that will protect all devices. Consumer is disputing the charges with his credit card provider.
