Type of a scam Tech Support

My mother is elderly and lives alone, and suffering from some. She got a call from 805-375-8603 Steve Morris (a foreigner). (Another name they used was Amy Kruse.) He repeatedly called between the house phone and the cell phone. She knows to let calls go to voice mail, but the calls were so persistent, they drove her crazy. He told her she had purchased tech support from them a couple of years ago, and they got in trouble with BBB, so he needed to give her a $200 refund. He was able to show her on her computer that he was making a deposit. Then he started acting panicky, saying "Oh no, I’ve deposited $2000 not $200, I’m going to be in so much trouble, you gotta give me the money back, please, you gotta help me". So my mother drove to Walmart to buy $2000 in gift cards. The clerk would not sell them to her. He told her it was a scam. So she drove to Target and bought the cards. She read the security numbers off the back to him and then he told her to destroy them, so she put them in her shredder. She banks w/*** Bank. I called them, and they are going to review the matter with their board.
