Automated voice message that says to call back regarding that my SS# has been flagged for drug trafficking and money laundering and to call back immediately or an warrant would be issued for my arrest and all my assets seized.

Wanted me to withdraw all cash from bank, go to Walmart and get a wal mart gift card. That’s how they were going to “verify” the money was mine. I had to stay on the phone with them the entire time. I got to wal mart and I started asking them questions because I was very nervous about going through with this but at the same time I didn’t want to be arrested! It was very believable. Extremely believable! She finally hung up and said they would now send over a fax to the local sheriff office and have me placed in custody until they could verify my identity and change my social security number.

Still hoping this is a scam…again, it was outrageously believable.

Caller identified himself as David Brown (#SSA 201317). I recently retired, and I’ve been talking to the SSA so I wasn’t suspicious. He questioned me about what accounts (credit, savings, checkings) I had but did not ask for account numbers. He informed me that my SSN and name had been used by drug traffickers in Rowlett County, Texas. He then referred me to Richard Weber (#DEA 5379). Supposedly the DEA was investigating this. He said that I would need to close all my accounts and that U.S. Marshals would come the following day (Friday) to give me a new SSN. He threatened that I would be arrested in an hour and would be in jail for 72 hours if I failed to follow the instructions. I drove to Pen Air Federal Credit Union. Weber said I would need to leave my cell phone on. As I was getting ready to go into Pen Air, Weber informed me that I would then need to return to my car; he would give me further instructions. (NOTE: Throughout this I asked about why this was happening, that I knew the government did not function this way. When I said I needed to check this, I asked if I should go to the Sheriff’s office to report what I thought was a scam. He threatened the marshals would be at my door in an hour to arrest me. He also stated that my SSN had been used to open new accounts that totaled approximately $650,000.) On entering the bank, I met the greeter. Since my phone was on, I asked for a piece of paper. I wrote her a note about what was happening. She advised me that this was a scam, and I should hang up. Thanks to her and the Pen Air staff, the scammers did not get any money to me

On Thursday 3/14/2019 around noon I called *** 866-459-4272 to get info regarding Medicare Advantage Plans ***  has. I spoke to Ashanti Gordon. She asked me several questions and than said something about me what I did not tell her and she should not know. When I joked that she knows all about me, she said yes. At that time I did not realized, but now it looks to me like she was checking information about me on Facebook or Google.

Next day, Friday 3/15/2019 before noon, I received phone call from a men, who introduced himself as *** ***, special agent from SSA who is investigated some serious fraud. His phone number was 469-206-4423. He asked some closed questions, such "is my last name such and such". My answer was "yes". Than he asked "is my first name such and such", I answered again "yes". Than he asked about my address where I do not live. This time I answered "no". At time I got red flag inside my head, and reminded myself that some criminals can "collect" and record answers "yes" and "no" over the phone, just to get money from my bank, credit card or some other sources. At that time I ended that phone conversation. He never called back.

Since I never get this kind of phone calls I believe that this phishing call was in connection with my phone call to *** one day earlier.
