Type of a scam Utility
Call received from somebody claiming to represent Epcor. They asked to speak with Accounts Payable. When informed that she was busy on another line they stated that the call was urgent. They then further claimed that power to the business was to be cut-off at midnight due to lack of payment. A message was left and a 1-800 number provided.
We receive two Epcor bills monthly, one is paid through the bank and one is an automatic withdrawal.
When I called the number provided, the only information that I provided was the number that I was calling from. They were able to determine the company name and address. They then claimed that Epcor no longer does automatic withdrawal. I accused them of not being legitimate, hung up the phone, called Epcor and verified my accounts.
