We purchased a classic vehicle (1966 aqua colored International Scout) through Oodle Marketplace / Kloomby (Auto Sellers). The car owner’s name was Katelyn Foster in Indiana, who had a big story about her husband dying and she needed to sell his car. The transportation company, was to be HIN Transportation which has a very legitimate looking website with tracking, etc. Money was to be wired to Prestige Auto Sales via their bank which was TD Bank out of Oakland Park, FL. When the car wasn’t delivered on the specified day, Friday, HIN actually answered the phone. With dishes clinking in the background, a lady with a foreign accent said they’re running late and it would arrive Tuesday. When it didn’t arrive Tuesday we knew we had been taken. Don’t make the same mistake we did, never wire money for a vehicle for an online purchase! And if you feel uneasy with red flags going up everywhere, listen to your gut! Here’s what we discovered since being robbed of $12,200:

Bill of Lading details list the trucking company, HIN Transportation out of Merrillville, Indiana. That city’s business office tell me they but didn’t renew their business license about a year ago. Owners were Richard Zachmann and Daryl Grady. HIN is still a registered trucking agent for Landstar, but according to Landstar, they are only called HIN Transport and they closed their port in Crown Point and moved to St. Charles IL, still owned by Richard Zachmann (who’s name was the listed agent on our bill of lading). However, I was unable to find any record of an HIN Transportation OR an HIN Transport in St. Charles,IL. The website www.hintransportation.com was launched only 3 weeks ago using all the info. from the old company in Merrillville.
