I was given a name and number from this "rep" who claimed that people had used my SS# to rent a car that was found in Texas with drugs in it. They asked for the last 4 digits of my SS# and asked me to verify my address (which they already had). They then told me that they were going to suspend my SS#. At that point I told them they were bogus and I hung up on them. They had heavy Mexican type acccents.

When I answered the man told me he was with the social security administration. He listed my first and last name and then proceeded to list my social security number. He asked me if it was accurate, I told him that was my name and that was it. He then told me my social had been compromised and was being used in the state of texas. You could tell he was script reading because he just kept talking and wasnt listening to me.

9/04/19 I received a call from 1-888-921-2173 with a recorded message by a male, saying he was "with the social security administration and my social security number had been compromised and failure to respond would result in my card being closed. Press 1 to speak to an officer to resolve this issue." I hung up.

It is a pre-recorded message that says: "Your social security number has been temporarily suspended due to suspicious activity. Press one to be directed to a specialist" When you press one a person with a very heavy accent answers and said how can we help you. I said you called me about my social security number, he then asked for my social security number to confirm. When I said you should already have it he hung up.
