contacted by a company claiming to be smith & associates . told me they were looking for my brother, who has never lived here. told me it was a legal matter and i should take their info to pass on to my brother. i said i dont speak to my brother. woman got snippy saying someone should care and someone would want me to pass on the message. said i should put my family problems aside. then she said if the cops come to my house (2 hours away) they will be very upset that I did not pass on the information and hung up on me. my brother called back and reached a man claiming to be named william w. blaire. This man mentioned last four digits of social security number, did not even require a confirmation that it was or was not the right numbers before explaining he has a "warrant for check fraud regarding 2 pending warrants for check fraud. he said they had sent a letter to an address that has not been occupied by my brother in over 6+ years. man was pleasant but upset that my brother was not willing to give anymore information, it was as if he assumed he had the last four of the social confirmed. i was not able to get a live person to answer the phone afterwards when I tried to call back to see what would happen. the first two calls were answered immediately, no wait at all to reach a "worker" after first two contacts. after that I sat on the phone for 20+ minutes.
