Type of a scam Online Purchase

I was offered $200 off to come in to a location and have my teeth scanned for aligners. I did that in January 2019 and paid $1700 for my 6 months worth of aligners. The aligners arrived and I started wearing them around 3/6/2019. I sent in my 90-day photos as requested by the company and received no communication so I assumed everything was okay. In June/July 2019 I contacted the company by chat about an ill-fitting aligner. They requested photos which I sent the same day. A few weeks later, I was told that my aligners were not made correctly and that I would need to be re scanned for new aligners. We were out of state at the time but I made an appointment for after our return and had the re scan done 8/15/2019. I was told that my new aligners would arrive in 4-5 weeks. I began contacting the company by chat at week six. I was told various stories during the following weeks. One lowly agent promised overnight shipping when the aligners were ready. Weeks later, another agent promised by phone $150 for my inconvenience and promised that I would have my aligners in 2-3 business days. I had a chat confirm that he promised those two things and have the chat copied. Weeks later, I still had no alingers. I was then told that they were made by were rejected by Quality Control and needed to be remade and I should have them the 2nd or 3rd week of October. When that didn’t happen, I was told that my scans were not sent when they should have been. I requested a full refund since I had upheld my end of the deal by wearing my aligners and sending in photos. I was assinged to an account specialist who told me that I would be contacted by a Dental Specialist in 7-10 days. After 10 days (today 10/25/2019), I called in once again and was told that my order was cancelled since I requested a refund and that they had approved a $725 refund. They told me that an email had been sent but I did not receive any email from Smile Direct Club. So that means that they retain $1,000 of my hard earned money and I have ABSOLUTELY NOTHING. That is how their scam apparently works. You can’t really talk to anyone and everyone there is ‘so very sorry’. Horrible company to try and deal with . I am looking into legal action to get my money back. Apparently the American Dental Association is also in a legal battle with SDC
