Type of a scam Online Purchase

I answered online to an offer of free beauty samples Skin Care & Advanced Care thinking they were given from Costco warehouse as I was asked if I was a Costco customer and how often I shopped at Costco, to which questions I answered that I did shop at Costco at least once a week (my son holds the membership).

I gave my address in Canada and entered my Visa card number to pay only for the shipping and handling fees as advertised. There was no mention of cancellation after 14 days as the products were free samples not free trials. I received 2 emails from [email protected] confirming my requests where only the shipping and processing charges were mentioned. The 2 shipments arrived very soon as expected.

However, when I checked my Visa account three weeks later I found out that webskintoday.com and getskinready.com had deducted respectively 2 weeks later CAD$197.62 and CAD$189.62. Research on the web shows amounts of $29.99 and $28.49 for these identical products and a website (that I cannot retrieve) mentions that unless orders are cancelled there will be the same monthly deductions i.e. an amount of CAD$387.24 from the person’s credit card.

I wrote to them to cancel any transaction with them and got an automatic no-reply, they would be calling me instead. As they did not call me I called 2 numbers: 855 303 3110 and 866 898 3887 several times. Somebody picked up the phone once but hung up and when I called again a message said the phone was recently disconnected and as to the other number I got the fax line. It was obvious to me that these 2 numbers were connected.
