The caller identified himself as a sheriff calling a list of people who had failed to show up for jury duty. He said that there was a warrant out for my immediate arrest and that he could stop the arrest if I came to the city county building and posted a reimbursable fee of $150 per warrant (2) in a kiosk. He said that I would immediately be reimbursed after my appearance. Otherwise a sheriff would be sent out to arrest me. I asked him why my caller ID had not recognized the phone as a county number and he said he was using his personal phone and quickly corrected – the phone in his office. I asked more questions and he became angry and insisted that I cooperate. He asked which choice I wanted and I said I will come down to the C.C. building, but will call my attorney first. He said he would need a phone number to track me. I told him I would not give him my cell number or any other information. That made him angry and he shouted that he was coming to arrest me "now!". Then he shouted some obscene language and hung up.
