Type of a scam Rental
We found a listing for a 2 bed 2 bath apt in over the rhine renting for$500 a month. Contacted Patrick via email to express interest. He told us about himself and asked about us. He told us that we would be renting through Airbnb because he was stationed in Afghanistan for the next three years and couldn’t physically be here to do everything. We set up a day to make to deposit and he sent me the "link" to complete the reservation. The invoice asked for payment with an Ebay gift card. I then contacted Airbnb to ask if this was an acceptable form of payment. They informed me that 1- it is not the way they accept payment and 2- you can only book airbnb rentals directly through their website. When I reached out to the "host" again, he gave me a story about how that is how craigslist handles the rentals and that airbnb will tell me the same thing if I call the number on the invoice. Luckily I did not go out and buy the gift card to send the funds or I would be out $500. Run from Patrick Tuller if you see that name!
