Seating Mind

Like everyone here and other websites I have the exact same experience: used chair, horrible customer service, returned the chair, and Still out my $500. Filing a complaint with the Attorney General of New Jersey. There really is no need to explain further because like the June 16th comment they know what they’re doing: stealing.

Barbara – Oct 14, 2020

I bought a chair from them in 2019. I had it for six months and the cylinder broke, so it no longer stays up. I contacted them, and they sent me instructions on how to fix it myself. The instructions were very difficult to do, and when I finally got a friend and he helped me they ended up not even being for this particular chair. There is a supposed 5 year warranty they advertise, but they have never responded to my request for repair or replacement again. Their customer service department really is very very poor. I have asked for refund, but I expect I will not hear from them.

This company sells states they sell chairs. What the really do is pretend to sell chairs. They wait as long as possible to send you any massively used chair they have in inventory instead of the one you ordered. What this does is prevent you from opening up a claim with your credit card company early. Then after they sent you the junk item, the report falsely to the credit card company that the item has been shipped, even after you have already returned the incorrect item to them. Then, by the time you can report this back to the credit card company, more than 60 days from your original purchase date has passed and you are out any money that you ever paid them.

Good marketing, website – Pathetic Customer service & delivery.

I ordered a chair Apr 4th, was sent a tracking # called only to be informed it had not yet shipped, Apr 23rd was promised delivery the following week, chased up again only to be informed it was still not shipped!. April 30th I asked what IF i cancel the order the seller decided to cancel my order and cut 50$.
Not only I lost time, lost money too.
This is unacceptable Please avoid dealing with this seller read the fine print and be ready to loose money. Glad I cancelled as could have been worst getting a bad chair.

BUYER BEWARE
Seating Mind customer service and return policy is horrible! After requesting to have an order cancelled due to shipping delays. I was advised via email to refuse the shipment as it was already in route. Due to the pandemic the FedEx driver literally dropped the package at my door. I immediately contacted Seating Mind and was provided a return label. I returned the merchandise in its original unopened box. It was received back by Seating Mind 05/05/2020. As of today 06/18/2020 I have yet to receive my refund. I even disputed it through my financial institution. However, Seating Mind refused the chargeback. My financial institution will no longer assist me at this point, which I have also communicated to Seating Mind. I am now working with the Better Business Bureau in an attempt to resolve this issue. BUYER BEWARE!

David – Jun 22, 2020

Yes we are in touch trying to resolve your issue through BBB.

Linda – Jun 13, 2020

I ordered a chair on May 10 and after a couple of weeks with no email confirmations I emailed them and got the same basic response as others blaming everything on the pandemic. After that email a fed ex shipping number was attached to the order but it isn’t valid with fed ex. So anyway I gave them until last week to do something and they were radio silent with no status updates on my order. I have tried multiple emails none of them were answered. Tried calling them left a message but to date no reply and now when you call it says voice mailbox is full. I have reported them and initiated a claim with my bank to have my transaction refunded. I like to give people the benefit of the doubt but at this point it looks like they are either running a scam as other posters say. DO NOT do business with this company you will regret it. I plan on reporting them on as many websites as I can find. In all my years of buying products via the web I have never gotten ripped off like this. They are stealing people’s money.

Kindly go to shopper approved. We have literally thousands of orders and thousands of happy customers. It is true that we were faced with refunds and that was due to the corona virus. We respond to everyone . It just takes some time at this moment. We actually helped thousands of people purchase home office chairs but were totally caught off guard with the amount of orders. We hired more staff. And then we hired more staff again. We are still working around the clock. We are catching up and, yes, you get the impression that we are not reputable but we have been in business for 15 years selling office chairs. We try to be as honest as we can with all the information we provide on the web. Please understand that for every bad complaint we literally have hundreds of satisfied customers. Please understand us somewhat and try to give us the benefit of the doubt.

Email [email protected] and they will help you. I cannot at this point since you ahve not provided an order number or your name.

BAD BAIT COMPANY LIVE ON 10% refund

The owner of this company keeps on registering new domain names to make them show up as top 2-3 when you search to buy Aeron chair by Herman Miller in Google. Their e-commerce websites use the same template and marked as 50%-60% percent off. Very attractive but DON’T BE FOOLED!

These companies live on 10% refund. That means, they will only return 90% for each transaction to customer. So they don’t care if the product or their customer service is good or not. Google is fooled and i saw lots of 1-star reviews by those people who were fooled by them as well.

Jillian – Jun 16, 2020

Your comment is very appreciated!
Seating mind has all the scummy web tricks to fool people into buying, and then they just run through the scam script.

Its 30 days since my order and nothing has arrived. Only one communication and now i doubt i will get either a refund or a chair in new condition as advertised without a fight. There is an interesting dichotomy between the reviews on this site I suspect many of the positive ones are fake. Given the timing of some of the reviews it seems a lot of people have been left hanging while trying to equip for working from home. that does not sit very well with me and I feel for the others writing reviews here who have lost time and money. More to follow as this story develops. It Seems Seatingmind are paying attention to reviews on TrustPilot.com, As they replied to my review there. for the record I have still not received any direct communication just a reply to this review. I have sent in a request to cancel my order and request a full refund. I will continue with updates if they choose to actually communicate directly with me. Also recommend people reading this to check BBB.org currently they have 27 complaints . In addition the reply indicated I knowingly purchased a reconditioned chair , for the record this is the description : 1 × Herman Miller Aeron Chair Fully Featured Size B Gray Frame Black Mesh . No mention that it is refurbished, it was advertised as a sale item I was expecting a new chair not a reconditioned one.
Reply from Seatingmind on TrustPilot.com.
i just sent an internal urgent message to [email protected] – they will handle this. Do not worry about getting your chair. We are a reputable company that just got overwhelmed with home office chairs due to the pandemic. Since the chairs are refurbished, we have to accept the payment first, then most of the time refurbish them. We cannot do that prior to insuring this is a real order. Thank you for your understanding and we sincerly apologize for this wait time.

Johnathan – Jun 04, 2020

Pete,
I replied to you on trustpilot as you noted. You cannot understand the magnitude of what occurred since the pandemic started. We were absolutely flooded with orders and we are climbing out of this slowly but surely. The claim of not knowing it was refurbished is not a fair statement, Every single product on the site clearly states the condition in the features section. You will get a response as I mentioned from [email protected] – notified them again and i promise you will hear from them. If you know how the review sites work – we do not control any of them. When you placed the order you received a shopper approved testimonial to fill in. They are a third party company and we do not control those reviews.
Feel free to express your opinion but please do not distort some of the facts as I noted since these public sites can be damaging and it is simply not right to do so. We will take the heat on issues we know we are guilty of but not fact distortion. Thank you for your understanding.

I purchased a chair from Seatingmind.com. They issued a Fake FedEx tracking number that never was used. I’ve reached out consistently since the purchase over two weeks ago and they have now gone silent. Looking at the other reviews for Seatingmind.com it appears that they will keep your funds and not deliver the goods, then when you dispute it with the credit card company they act like they are going to correct the issue but instead just complete the scam against the purchaser by withholding the funds AND goods.

It appears as if there is no recourse. IF they continue to not respond and provide the goods i have paid for, I intend to follow up with Law Enforcement and the Credit Card Company.

The reuven kohn guy, he’s lying. They had a different set of excuses last fall (oh we’re so busy trying to help people). I got suckered Nov 2019, experienced the same rigmarole, same defective products, same ripoff results.

This is how I think that Office Chairs at Works operates (as well at Seating Mind, Fine Mod Imports, and any other name this company operates under in Elizabeth, New Jersey): A customer places an order, and when nothing ships after a couple of weeks, the customer gets frustrated enough that they ask to cancel the order. When the company agrees to cancel the order, they hold a 20% cancellation fee back. If a customer waits it out long enough, they receive a banged up chair, and then demands a return. After a lot of back and forth, they either agree to let the customer return, but keep a "restocking fee", or it’s such a hassle to return the customer keeps the chair but demands a refund (which they ignore). Either way, they make money off of any purchase, whether it is returned or not, in an unethical way. I think they just send around the same, broken chairs, all over the country over and over again. Our office had a bad experience when we ordered 12 chairs, and received 12 BROKEN chairs. Delivery carrier was without a COI (first red flag, and upsetting our building management), and things only went downhill from there. We’ve had employees who come in, sit down, and the chair falls apart, and when we email customer service, they are either radio silent, or will ask us to send a video (???? Are you asking us to send a reenactment of someone’s chair breaking? This is absurd). They claim everything is in the fine print, but why make something so hard to see unless you’re operating in an ethical way? They constantly blame not responding to customer service emails on holidays they take 2-3 weeks off for?? This place is a joke. Hopefully someone can bring this place to justice before they scam too many people out.

Nicolas –

I think you are right. Their behavior is so consistent and calm, it sure looks like they know exactly what kind of scam they are running. They have done the math and figured out that it’s profitable to put every single customer through the same hell.
