Type of a scam Fake Check/Money Order

I already ripped up the check, but I got an email saying that my job application had been accepted and I was being sent my first package immediately. I received a priority mail envelope the next day with a letter describing what to do, but without my name, address or any other identifying information, and a check for$3865. The letter asked for me to deposit or cash the check, keep $365 for gas and pay and by re-loadable debit type cards in the amount of $3500, take pictures of front and back of all cards and email them in. I was to keep the cards for "future evaluations". I was to keep checking my email for updates. The name on the letter was Ronald Perelman. I called the bank, West Texas Educators Credit Union, in Odessa, TX and they confirmed that the check was fake.
