Type of a scam Rental
I contacted "Sally" about a house listing for rent here in SF on Craigslist. It was listed as $2600 / 1br – 710ft2 – Sunset views (San Francisco), but is no longer on Craigslist.
They emailed me back asking for more information, re-listing all the same stats that were on the ad (with lots of grammar mistakes).
I gave them my basic contact information: name, email, phone, address, occupation.
She replied saying "Currently, you are the first to contact me which means, you have opportunity to reserve the unit for your move in.Just to be sure, hope the unit will be properly taking care off during your stay?" In that same email, they me I should put the house on hold for $2,600, and that I would get my deposit back if by November 15th if I still wanted the house or something.
I did NOT pay them anything, of course. But I am feeling insecure now about the safety of my info/identity and I don’t want others to contact this scammer.
