Type of a scam Employment

I was offered an $2,500/month independent contractor position over the phone to receive, repackage and mail overstock items to a wholesale distributor. I never received an paperwork and was told that I would receive forms once I received my first item for shipment, but never have received any documentation via email or snail mail. Upon receipt of my first package, I noticed it did have my address and did not have my name. After I mailed it out via the return postage paid label to send it back to Abercrombie and Fitch, I received a series of texts from area codes across the country demanding I go to the post office to retrieve the package. As of today, my login has been revoked, all numbers that called/texted me are all dead numbers with a fast busy signal and their website has been updated to change verbiage as to the purpose of their business. My "manager" Mike answered my first call and told me he would call me back in 5 minutes. When I called him back 10-15 minutes later I found that his number is no longer working. When I called the number listed for the company on the ScamPulse.com website, the first person I’ve spoken to with an American accent advised me that S&R Courier is not a real company and employment through them is a scam. Luckily, all I lost was time in which I could have been searching for a real job.
