I received a phone call today about winning a $550 million watch, and I would receive this watch if I subscribed to a few popular magazines that were mentioned to me. The name of the place that contacted me was called Readers Exchange Program Magazine. I spoke to a young man who said that I could receive 3 popular magazines like Oprah or Readers Digest. I could tell that they were keeping me on the phone. They kept asking me what magazines that I thought were the best, and before I knew it, they signed me up for 3 of them that I didn’t want and said that it would only cost me $1.29 a week. They also asked me what credit card company I thought was best and I didn’t know why they asked me this. I just said Mastercard. The young man then asked me for my credit card number to be able to send me the magazines that they signed me up for, and I asked to speak to a supervisor. I spoke to the supervisor, who’s name was Betty. She was adamant about asking me for the expiration date on my credit card. She did ask for my credit card number, but when I didn’t give it to her, she asked several times for my expiration date on the credit card. She tried to assure me that it was no big deal to give her this expiration date because she said she couldn’t do anything with the information, but she asked me many times for it. I eventually just hung up the phone.
