I received a call from an Albert Johnson claimed that I won a life time prize including a Mercedes Benz and he would come to my residence with his driver. They would escort me to the bank and give me the check and I would give the driver $497 as his reward. I played along for a while sayin g that I had to wait for my bodyguard to come before I meet with him. I I finally told him that his time as a scammer is coming to an end because he has people looking for him who will do unprintable things to him and his family. Turning the tables on him unnerves him.
I write and lecture on scams.

My parents are 95 and 93 and they are receiving phone calls from Eric Johnson at the Better Business Bureau. He can be reached at 623-246-8385, x. 101. He says they are making sure the winning presentation for my father is on the up and up. He wants me to call Wells Fargo at 323-499-3093 and choose option two to direct me to the appropriate department for the winnings. Then I’m to call him back about the presentation, and how they want to receive the winnings.

Called total of 3 times, 2 on 9/4/2020 & 1 time 9/5/2020. First caller said his name was Robert Goodman with Publishers Clearing House, #5058500127. Distinct accent, difficult to understand. Said we had won $3.9 million & $7,000 each week for life. Asked how far we were from a Walgreens & all we’d have to do is pay a $400 registration fee in U.S. dollars. Told the man we know how PCH operates and this is

definitely a scam and he tried to convince that it’s not a scam. The call on 9/5/2020 he asked if we’d be home for an hour or so in order

that our package could be delivered to our door. Hung up on all 3 calls and needless to say, nothing was delivered to our home. No personal information was given and hope no one getting these calls give any information to them.

I was contacted by phone and told that I had won the Publishers Clearing House 2nd place prize of $2.5 million ($7,000/week) and a new Mercedes Benz. The caller sounded legit; had my personal information including month and year of my birth and my previous addresses. But they didn’t have my current address. I asked for more information in order to legitimize the call so they sent me an email from [email protected] The email looked legitimate, but in the email they asked for $3500 in legal fees in order to release my prize. I researched PCH online and found that they will never notify winners by phone and furthermore, will not ask for money in order to release a prize.

I asked him where he was and he indicated he was in a local motel & that the car was currently sitting on a flat bed truck waiting to be delivered and then change his story saying that he would not be able to come pick me up. He also provided another phone number of 850-359-4190 but I can’t remember what that number was for. When I indicated that it was a Saturday & the bank was closed he became agitated. He called back this morning to find out if I had sent the money and when I indicated that I had not he became mad & cussed me out. I knew it was a scam but I played along to see what the punchline was. I had won 3.5 million dollars, but because I was over 50 the company would pay 98% of the taxes, I would only be responsible for the other 2%. So I would need to go to Walmart and that is when I was going to stop him to let him know that I was onto him, but before I could get the words out of my mouth he hung up. Now, the phone number and name he gave me. The number came up as “No caller ID” on my phone. He gave me all that info when I ask him that if he was with PCH why it came up with no phone number. Once she tells them she has the $400 card they will come to the house and pick up the card. They would then notify Publishers Clearing House and they would come with the prizes. This is crazy having to give someone a $400 card before receiving the cards. Scamming a 97 year old woman is disgraceful!!!! Received a call from 876-298-1959 from a supposed Mr. David Johnson with Publisher Clearing House saying I had won 2.5million

dollars and a mercedes. It was believable because I enter Publisher’s Clearing House prize entries. He was very professional, going

through what I had won, how I wish to receive the prize from their departure prize patrol. He asked a lot of personal questions but he

said I could pass on anything I did not care to answer. I passed on bank questions, owning home, annuities, etc.

He is very believable and leaves no stone unturned. Then the final statement is: You will need to purchase a $200 gold stamp

to prove that you are who you say you are and want to win. He goes through a very step by step process before the final "pay this amount".

He wanted to know if I am retired or still pay taxes. I did answer the last question for which I’m sorry. I suppose he can trace my social security number for which I am fearful. This is a very professional scam and believable. Please check out the number I gave you on my caller I.D. Thank you.

He gave his name as Frank Willis and said he was an agent for Publishers Clearinghouse. He said his ID was FW4001PCH. (He had asked me write down all of this information including today’s date and time of phone call). He said I’d won 2 place in PCH contest and the check would be delivered to me by UPS. Their attorney is Mary Walker. She would be handing me the check and the keys to a new Mercedes. The check # is 00719676000; the package # 5523655236; the confirmation # 9162370204. He said his company is approved by BBB, Homeland Security, and Chambers of Commerce. He said there would be a Delivery’s Invitation that required an ID from me such as a driver’s license and I would also need to write a check and photograph this check which was to be in the amount of $199.99. I finally reached my friend and she has no knowledge of the giveaway. She is new to FB and messaging. I then deleted information, but the bogus friend is still making inquiries of me.

Paul Williams called evening of 5/18/2020. Said I had won 1.2 million dollars in the Publishers Clearing House Sweepstakes. I needed to call back at 10:30 a.m. the morning of the 19th. When I did so, Mr Williams insisted I had misunderstood him the previous evening. I had actually won 7.5 million dollars, $350,000 in cash and a New 2020 Mercedes Benz. However, because the total was more than 1 million dollars I needed to purchase a Stamp for the government. This would be $750 and I needed to go to Walmart or CVS to purchase two gift cards, $500 and $250, and call him when I had them. The Publishers Clearing House VAN would come to my house with the winnings and take the gift cards from me. This is the general conversation. I was able to get some of his conversation recorded on my iphone.

I was to stay on the phone while I got dressed and went to Walgreens to buy $350 gift cards and then they would tell me where we could meet for them to give me my winnings. I knew it was a scam, so I laid the phone down and went about my business, pretending to be doing as instructed. My mother is 87 years old and has been scammed more times than I care to remember, she is a sweet lady who talks to people and thinks she is being told the truth. She gets calls this couple of weeks from David Greene, Publishers Clearing House says she has won 2 prize but she needs to send $1.99 to get the prize mailed to her. She told them she does not drive and cannot get to bank and they offered to send a cab to pick her up. When I heard her telling someone about her bank I wanted to speak to them. They hang up. I have taken my mothers phone this morning and gotten several calls from them trying to speak to my mother. They then say she won a car, I told them she can’t drive and does not need a car. She she won something just mail it as they already know her address. They tell me they are unable to mail it without paying for postage which is why they want $1.99. I have told them repeatedly that if she needs to pay a penny, then we are not interested. I control her accounts for this reason. They want my mother to tell them again to not call her back. I am livid and want something done!. I have blocked every number they have used and most recently they used a local area code but when I answered call was transferred to a number I had already blocked.

Received a call from recording stating I had won 2.5 million dollars in a powerball sweepstakes from publishers clearing house and a Mercedes Benz from a sweepstakes that started in 2002. they stated a phone number to call to claim my prize which would be delivered the next day. I called and a Abriam Johnson 702-746-3223 out of Vegas, Nevada he answered and congratulated me on winning the 2002 sweepstakes and told me that i had it pay the tax for the prize $3,000 with dollar store. he asked me if i could afford the tax, i played along and said certainly isn’t it better a cashiers check but he was adamant that it had to be a 1 vanilla prepaid visa cards 6 in total each $500 and dont tell anyone because someone might follow me home from the store an rob me.

i would have to go to several dollar stores to purchase them. the store only allows 2/ $500.00 cards for purchase. I was to call him back after i purchased them at the number i had called. he asked how long it would take me i stalled and said my husband wasn’t home from work yet.

so it would be at least an hour til i could use his car but as soon as i purchased them i would call him back. he said i needed to do it fast because they would deliver car and money to me tomorrow at my home and i was to turn over the cards to the driver , i said yea sure i’ll call as soon as I’m done. i asked how i was to receive my winnings and he said cash, so i said you better get a real big suitcase . so within my hour stall i typed up this scam for all to see an i have no intention of answering my phone. i didn’t give my address and he sure had a heavy African accent. i hope the poor fool doesn’t wait too long for my call back lol.

So I tried to call Wal-Mart and ask them about the paper I needed. And they didn’t know what I was talking about. So I called a casino and asked them how if someone wins a very large sum of money how it was done with taxes. And as soon as I got off the phone with the casino I called the so-called sweepstakes people and told them I knew it was all a scam and if they ever called me or came by my house the County Sheriff would be called and never heard from them again.

My 89 mother has been ordering stuff from Publisher’s Clearing House as she receives MANY notices that she is in the finals – apprx. 5 pr 6 per day. She has been ordering monthly from them even though I have told her not to, it is a scam. on Dec 20th, she received a phone call from PCH telling her she won and would she like to save the taxes? She said yes and they told her if she would pay $80,000 she would….after being on the phone with them for over 40 minutes, she realized it was a scam.

I then called PCH to tell them to take my mother off ALL future mailings and she is not to receive ANY more info from them, after I explained the situation. They gave a canned answer that they cannot help what scammers do. I told them I do not play PCH and have never received a phone call from them telling me that I won….they disregarded that info.

My mother received another phone call this afternoon telling them that she won from the same guy – she recognized his voice. He also told her that she still owes money for the candy she has been ordering from PCH. How would they know that she has ordered candy if it is not someone who works at PCH. I called PCH and reported this info to them.

This has got to stop as they are taking advantage of elderly people.

What can be done?

I received a phone call on Tuesday, October 15th. The caller ID came up as "Publishers’ Clearing House". I was not home at the time, and a message was left saying that I had won 4.6 million dollars; a claim number was left. The message also directed me to call the number back with this number so I could claim my prize. The following day I called the number and spoke to someone identifying himself as Robert Davis. Mr. Davis began by asking me some questions about my home phone number- which I confirmed. He then asked if I was married and if my husband was home- which I confirmed that he was. Mr. Davis then proceeded to ask if my husband could confirm that I could "claim" the prize. I placed my husband on the phone – he confirmed our address and said that I could claim the prize. Mr. Davis then asked where I had retired from – I did not recall telling him I was retired. He also asked about my husband’s previous employment. Then he informed me that he was going to ask me some questions, so he could complete some forms for the 1040 and 1099 forms that would be needed when I claimed my prize. I asked why ths paperwork could not be completed after I received my money. He began to say things like I did not want to miss out on my 4.6 million dollar prize. I responded that I would not be giving him any confidential information like my SSN. The line then went dead. Now, I am going to have to monitor all of my accounts just to make sure that no one is messing with my identity.

I was contacted by phone that I had won a publisher clearing house sweepstake prize of 9.5 million dollars, $5000.00 a week for life, and a 2019 car with 1-year state farm insurance. They instructed me to go to Walmart to receive a money gram for $5000.00 payable to me as soon as I paid a $250.00 processing fee. This caller made this sound very believable and went to great lengths to insure me this was not a scam and he was not asking for any personal information. I got leary once they wanted me to go to Walmart.

I received multiple calls starting yesterday from a company claiming to be from publishers clearing house. They gave me a code 000157YB and told me I that I needed to call Mr Albert Johnson at 1-876-416-8541 they informed me I was the PCH grand prize winner of $6.5 million, $5K per month for life and a brand new car! What a deal!! They just wanted me to go to Walmart or Walgreens and get a $1k Amazon gift card that I would need to give to them on delivery of all of my prizes. So I told them I felt this was a scam and not interested and wouldn’t go get the gift card. They called countless times trying to convince me it was legitimate and for the $1K gift card they were going to deliver all my prizes from PCH in person to my business So this morning they started calling again. Again I told them I was convinced it was a scam. At this point they told me again it’s all legitimate and all being controlled and phone calls recorded under ScamPulse.com &IRS regulations. So I told him great I’m a ScamPulse.com member so I will call them for confirmation of legitimacy. They hung up instantly and have not called again

Received a call from Publishers Clearing House. The gentleman told me that I had won the Publishers Clearing House and they were going to come to my home and deliver my new car and prize money. He asked me how old I was, where I banked at and if I had any stocks. He told me I would need to send him $4,500. I told him didn’t have that much money and he asked me how much I could send. I told him that I am not paying anything and said if I needed to pay I could pay it out of my winnings. He told me I couldn’t do that. I told him I thought this was a scam. I called the Publishers Clearing House and they confirmed that this is a scam.

The scary part was that he knew my full name and address.

I’ve been getting calls for three days from John Green from Jamaica. He said: "Congratulations, you’ve won Publishers Clearing House, $7000 a week for life and a Mercedes Benz". He kept telling me he’s a minister and ministers don’t lie. He said I had been blessed. He said God Blesses and congratulations several times. He’s coming this afternoon from Cleveland to give me my winnings. Just this morning he said I needed to get a money order for $499 to pay the shipping and handling. He asked if I was married, and he’s been talking to my husband as well. He asked if I wanted it publicized or kept confidential. I told him I wanted something in writing from PCH.

I received call on my cell phone. "James Stanguard" stated I won $985,000 and a 2015 Mercedes Benz. He said that two U.S. Marshalls and an attorney with a driver (named "Miller") would be at my house in 3 hours.

He advised me to call a number with an 876 area code. This number connected me to manager named "Albert Lopez." He asked how close I was to a grocery store in order to obtain a registration card. He said 99% of all the taxes were already paid, and I just needed to pay the rest.

I told "Albert Lopez" I might call the police and report this as a scam. He said he was already taking money out of my account as we spoke.

I called information to get the phone number for Publishers Clearing House. When I relayed the area code to the operator, she indicated that area code is for Jamaica.

Nothing has come out of my bank account.
