Pringles Promotional Program

Type of a scam Employment

I was texted with the offer to be paid to post Pringles (Potato chips brand) add on my car for payment. It was a group message with as many as 15 additional recipients in my area code. Then, I was told I would be sent my first week’s payment by check, later overnighted via UPS from the *** NC return address. The check’s name was a *** * *** at the ***, AL address. I then received numerous texts with VERY poor English grammar telling me to deposit the check then, send them a copy of my deposit slip from my bank. The check written out to me was for $2,000 though I had done no work or placed any add for Pringles on my car. Pringles name was in no addresses either on check or return address or overnight UPS label containing the check. I knew then I was being scammed and did not deposit the check. They texted repeatedly to get me to do so. I finally texted that I knew they were scamming me and that the police had been informed and had the scam check and all correspondence between us. I said I highly recommend you move on. All contact from them seized immediately. I did not contact police, but did keep the check with all relevant information if needed, though I ripped up the check. I have it still and a photo of it. All info on the check, if not seen in my photo, is written above. It was dated July 11, 2019 for $2,000 to me with my correct address.
