Total money lost $500

Type of a scam Travel/Vacations

We were offered the opportunity for our disabled daughter to go on a travel trip with this group to Mexico. The trip was scheduled to go April 14-21, 2019. We were asked to provide a cheque as a deposit for the trip.

By the end of March, no trip had been booked and Jane Hastings (Founder) was telling me that the trip would be in June or July. These dates were totally unacceptable for a disabled person travelling to Mexico. The heat would be unbearable. I expressed my concerns to her and she said that as she had not fundraised enough to pay for the trip, she couldn’t pay for it. She then cashed our deposit cheque and called it a non refundable deposit. She originally said she would refund the money, but then refused to accept phone calls, or emails in regards to this amount.

In addition, she has been collecting donations and holding fundraisers for this trip (some as far back as September 2018) and another in February 2019. She refuses to disclose how much money she has raised. No travel arrangements have been made and I have proof that no payments were ever made and no trips were ever booked. My daughter is disabled and this money came from her bank account. She only receives AISH payments and has no other income.
