I received a phone call from a Policeman Fund Foundation. They stated they were collecting funds on behalf of the local police department. It was a Louisiana area code, and the caller ID had the letters "LECAFLE" on it. I have interacted with the police department here often and they have told me previously that they will never solicit donations through phone or the mail. When I told the caller this, he ignored me, and he said he could mail me information and then I could select how much I would like to donate, or I could make a $20-25 donation over the phone today. I told him I knew what he was doing was a scam, and that I had already talked to the police. He immediately hung up.
I called the police to report this incident, and then I called the local BBB to report the scam.
