Police Charitable Institution

Victim Location 46368

Type of a scam Charity

The phone number appears as 574 564 5544. They were asking for money to donate to a certain police department. I am unable to remember what was the exact name of the police department asking for donation, but it sure was not located on the area code of the phone number that showed. On the opposite end of the line calling me, I am not able to determine if it was a real person, because it sounded "like" one. If it was a robo-call, technology sure has changed and it doesn’t sound too robotic or computerized as it was back then anymore. And that’s the latest trick these days.

They asked to confirm if was on the line, and I said, "Yes". Like I’ve said, it didn’t sound robotic-like. When I did so, that’s when they introduced that they are a police department asking for donations. They gave me a police department’s name (started with E, but cannot remember the whole name) and then I did a search of their phone number to be sure. The phone number showed no police department location. It was just a regular phone number with an unidentified person. The phone number could have been one of the latest in phone scammer trends as well. Gone are the days of the 1-800 numbers which most people will just hang up on. They are now using realistic phone numbers in random.
